One of the jobs of the Agile Coach/Scrum Master’s is to be the guardian of quality. Not the enforcer of quality or the do-er of quality, but the guardian. The one to bring up a quality “smell” and ask the team to really investigate it.
Some good questions to ask the team:
- “If this code was dinner, would you serve it to your kids?”
- “If this was a plane and you would be the first passenger, would you have any objection that we now lift of with the plane?” – This is what the quality manager actually did when a new Boeing was produced. He would get all engineers onboard and ask whether they have an objection to fly with the plane 🙂
“Don’t stop until you’re proud.”
